New brassinolide nanoformulations help rice resist stress and increase yield

New brassinolide nanoformulations have been developed to help rice resist stress and increase yield, and drought resistance efficiency has been increased by 40%
The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences recently announced the successful development of a nano-carrier-based brassinolide sustained-release agent "BR-Nano". This technology encapsulates natural brassinolide in silica nanoparticles, extending the duration of the drug from 7 days to 21 days, and increasing the leaf absorption rate to 90% (traditional preparations are only 50%).
Field trials have shown that in rice cultivation in arid areas of Henan, spraying "BR-Nano" can increase the proline content of leaves by 35%, increase rice yield by 18.7%, and save water by 30%. The project leader said that the preparation is scheduled to be mass-produced in 2024, with a price 20% lower than imported products, and is expected to become a key technology for agricultural transformation in arid areas.
