Plant growth regulators use during garlic planting
There are many kinds of plant growth regulators that can be used on garlic. Most of them can improve the disease resistance of garlic, increase yield, or promote garlic bolting and improve garlic quality. Here are some common regulators.
1. Gibberellic acid
① Use Gibberellic acid to promote bolting
Use period: When the garlic seedlings grow to 9 leaves and 12 leaves, spray Gibberellic acid solution once each.
Dosage: 20~30 mg/open Gibberellic acid solution, 50 liters of water per mu.
Function: Promote bolting, increase the length and thickness of garlic stalks, reduce the number of non-bolting plants, increase yield, and harvest early
Precautions: But avoid using too early and too high a concentration to avoid premature bolting, thin and weak garlic stalks, and reduced commercial value.
② Break seed dormancy and promote garlic germination
2. Triacontanol
Usage: Spraying 0.5 mg/L of Triacontanol on the leaves during the growth period of garlic seedlings can promote growth and increase yield.
3. Brassinolide
Usage and dosage: During the growth period of garlic, spray the leaves with 0.2 mg/L Brassinolide solution. The spraying amount should be enough to completely wet the leaves. Spraying 2-4 times can promote the growth of garlic plants and increase yield. Before sowing garlic, you can also mix the seeds with Brassinolide to promote early germination of garlic and promote uniform and strong seedlings.
4.2.4-D
Usage and dosage: Before sowing, soak the garlic cloves in 5 mg/L 2,4-D solution for 12 hours before sowing. It can increase plant height and plant weight and promote garlic yield.
5.1-Naphthaleneacetic acid
Usage: About 15 days before harvesting garlic, spray the leaves with 3000 mg/L Naphthylacetic acid sodium salt solution in the field to inhibit the germination of bulbs during storage and prolong the dormancy period.
6.Maleic hydrazide
Usage: About 15 days before harvesting, when the garlic bulbs are 3-5 cm thick, the outer 2-3 leaves have withered, and the middle leaves are still green, spray the stems and leaves with 2500 mg/L maleic hydrazide solution, 60-75 liters per mu, to inhibit cell division and germination. The application of maleic hydrazide to inhibit the germination of garlic bulbs is significant and stable.
7. Choline chloride
Choline chloride is a synthetic bioactive plant growth regulator with good systemic conductivity. After spraying, it can be quickly absorbed by the stems and leaves of garlic and transmitted to various parts of the plant. It can not only promote the photosynthesis of garlic leaves, making the leaves dark green and thick to promote root development, but also promote the growth and development of the root system, promote the photosynthetic products to be transported to underground tubers and roots as much as possible, promote the rapid growth of small garlic cloves, and increase the ratio of large and medium garlic heads. Thus, the yield of garlic is significantly increased and the quality of garlic is improved.
