Application of plant growth regulators on Cosmos
Cosmos has rich and colorful colors, including white, pink, pink, red, dark red, rose red, purple red, blue purple and other varieties. In addition, it has a long flowering period and is easy to plant. It is often used as a background material for flower beds, flower borders, flower groups, or planted in patches on the edge of the grass, around the bushes and on the roadside. It can also be used as a cut flower material.
The main application of plant growth regulators on cosmos:
1. Prevent seedlings from growing too long and lodging
Paclobutrazol:
Use 667mg/LPaclobutrazol solution to soak the seeds of cosmos for 2 hours before sowing. The uniformity of the seedlings is high and the dwarfing effect is obvious.
Chlormequat Chloride, Daminozide:
Spray 400mg/L Chlormequat Chloride or 3000mg/L Daminozide solution three times at the two-leaf, four-leaf, and six-leaf stages of Cosmos, which can effectively control the plant height, stem thickness, and internodes of Cosmos, inhibit the excessive growth of seedlings in plug trays, make the plant compact, and play a significant role in cultivating strong seedlings.
2. Control the height of potted plants
Daminozide:
After pinching the top of potted Cosmos, spray the leaves with 5000mg/L Daminozide solution, once every 10 to 14 days, and continue spraying until buds appear, which can significantly reduce the plant height and improve the ornamental value.
Paclobutrazol/Uniconazole:
When the height of the cosmos plant used in the flower sea is 10~15cm, spray the leaves with 125~150mg/LPaclobutrazol or 50mg/LUniconazole solution 1~2 times, which can make the plant short and strong, increase the stem thickness, deepen the leaf color, and increase the resistance to lodging.
3. Promote the germination of lateral buds and flower bud differentiation
6-Benzylaminopurine (6-BA):
When the height of the cosmos plant is 5~10cm, spray it with 20~25mg/L 6-BA solution to promote the germination of lateral buds. Use 20~25mg/L 6-BA solution to spray 1~2 times in the initial stage of cosmos flower buds, which can increase the number of flower buds and enlarge the flower buds.
4. Improve the ability of open-field plants to resist high temperature and drought
S-abscisic Acid (S-ABA):
Cosmos used in open-field plants (including urban gardens, flower fields, and scenic spots) is easily exposed to strong sunburn and drought stress after excessive evaporation in hot summer weather. Spraying 2-5mg/L of S-abscisic Acid (S-ABA) solution on the leaves can increase the ability of Cosmos to resist high temperature and drought.
